Community Services:
Outreach Services:
Through Outreach Services, adults living with the effects of an acquired brain injury are offered opportunities for skill training and optimum community access. Whether individuals live on their own or in supported living environments, staff come to them. Outreach Services has offices in Hamilton, Brantford, Simcoe and Hagersville.
Outreach Services’ clients have access to the other services offered by Step Up! ABI Recovery, including the clinical services of a psychologist or behaviour therapist, therapeutic groups, group recreational activities, as well as a 24-hour help line.

The staffing team has a diverse range of expertise including employment counseling, community re-entry, psychology, recreation therapy and behaviour management. Each client works closely with an assigned case facilitator to pursue identified goals.

Community Resources Services:
Community Resource Services meets the needs of individuals who have stable housing, financial management skills and a regular and satisfying routine but need assistance from time to time. Typically individuals receive one to four hours of service per month.

Group Services:
Group Services strives to meet the varied social, recreational and group learning needs of its clients by providing opportunities for individuals to volunteer as a team on community projects, and benefit from the camaraderie and friendships that develop during recreational pursuits.
Each month Group Services publishes a calendar of activities, community events, learning opportunities and volunteering projects. Clients are encouraged to join in the planning and facilitation of activities that reflect their various interests and talents.
BISHworks
BISHworks offers three different kinds of volunteer experiences to enhance self esteem, recovery and friendships, while developing relevant job skills and giving back to the community.
In community volunteering, a team of four to six clients, accompanied by a staff member, volunteer weekly for community organizations.

The office team members lend their time and effort to administrative projects such as rolling money for charity, collating mail-outs and assembling training packages for the agency as well as external businesses.
The catering crew produces meals for in-house meetings and events. Clients develop skills related to food preparation, safety and presentation.

BISHPets
BISHPets is an animal assisted activity/animal assisted therapy (AAA/AAT) program. The experienced BISHPets evaluation team assesses and supports skilled teams of volunteers and their own pets as they visit our clients and perform community outreach.

BISHPets has partnered with the Hamilton Central Public Library on Paws for Reading, a popular children’s literacy-assistance program, since 2005. A retired BISHPet favourite -- Read about Dudley’s BISHPets experiences at the Central Library!
